Wedding Guest Outfits

I am going to do a Fashion Friday series where I talk about my outfits from the week, what I wore on the weekend, what I want to wear for an upcoming event… whatever is on my mind from a fashion sense.

In a previous blog I wrote about how hard it can be to dress for a wedding. And I am here to tell you, yes, it is still hard, but no, it’s not impossible.

I just got back from a wedding in New Orleans. I was in the wedding, so I had one outfit taken care of, but I still needed to pack for Friday activities, the rehearsal dinner and Sunday activities.

I’m also trying to watch my budget, so I tried to not buy anything new for the weekend.

Friday Day:

  • After a long run in the morning, I took some time to do some city exploring. It was HOT, and a sticky hot, so I knew I wanted to keep it light and breezy. I brought a pair of linen shorts from Old Navy and a tank I had from Madewell paired it with a sandal and hit the road from some beignets

Friday Night:

  • We had the wedding ceremony rehearsal and then the rehearsal dinner Friday night. I wanted to look casual but also sleek. I had a midi linen dress, again from Old Navy, that I knew would be perfect for the event. The next part was to determine shoes. I decided I wanted to wear the same shoes as I was going to do for the wedding, so I didn’t have to pack another pair of shoes. Of course, my shoes were silver and most of my jewelry is gold so that presented a problem. Even though I was trying to limit my spending for this event I didn’t have any jewelry to go with the shoes, so I ended up buying a pair of blue earrings and bagels from Ink and Alloy. I then paired the look with an old yellow ribbon hair clip I had from years ago… Also, from Old Navy. Apparently, my wardrobe is just Old Navy lol.

Sunday Day:

  • The last day was a chill day: brunch and pool. It was another scorcher, so I wanted to wear something very light and loose. I was also in the south, where day dresses reign supreme. I ended up going with a flowy spaghetti strap day dress that was airy and light.

I packed all of this, plus my dress for the wedding and some workout clothes in a carry on. I tracked the weather leading up to the weekend. I also use packing cubes which help reduce wasted space.
